Welcome to Balderston Racing, a family racing team based out of Elizabeth, Colorado established in 1955 with driver Lawrence (Larry) Balderston (Brady’s grandfather) and Jean Balderston (Brady’s grandmother). Larry and Jean ran number 57 and raced stock cars until 1970. Jean was the Powder Puff Champion for several years at Lakeside speedway in Lakeside, CO. From 1955 until today there has always been a Balderston racing. Larry, a WWII Veteran, can still be found pit side for many of Brady’s Races.
Racing started for Brady when he was just 8 years old with his eyes set on following his grandfather’s footsteps. Brady started racing go karts at local racetracks and quickly fell in love with racing with his friends and family behind him every step of the way. Brady won multiple races and found himself moving up in the ranks, always with a goal of improving as a driver. Brady went from class to class ending up in pro shifters at the end of his go kart career. Brady ran shifter karts for 4 years before he decided stock cars was where he wanted to race.
At just the young age of 15 he started racing Grand American Modifieds at Colorado National Speedway. Within the first 4 years in the class, he pulled off 10 heat race wins and 1 Main event win with several finishes in the top 5 or better in a very competitive class.
Brady and the team, then wanted to continue the challenging themselves and moving up in the racing world. Brady ran the 2020 season in a Super Late Model. Following that season a new opportunity arose on a on a different surface. 2021 began the dirt track career. In 2021, Brady drove a lightning sprint. As a rookie, Brady, finished 4th in points and won Rookie of the year.
In 2022 a new challenge spoke to Brady, Dirt Late Model racing. He ran 4 races, finished in the top 10 for each feature race and found a new racing passion. In 2023, Brady and the team decided to run a full schedule. Achieving 2 feature wins, 5 top 5 finishes, 7 top 10 finishes, 8 heat race wins, set quick time in multiple qualifying sessions, and never finished worse than 7th. All in what was considered his Rookie Dirt Late Model Season.
